‘A Little Princess’ is coated in colour and during the film it progresses. Focusing on orange colour and details, from the beginning of the film, orange tones and details are seen when Sara is telling her fairytales, as well as the decoration in the room in India. Sara’s father gives her a gift before leaving her at the boarding school, which was a doll named Emily, and the doll has a bright, uplifting orange dress and hat. He gave her the doll to show her that there is still hope. During the film when Sara seems alone, the doll in her hands and the orange detailing of the doll throws the idea that there is hope for a better future.
The first part of the video is a synopsis of the plot and already includes the colours that the second part of the video looks at more closely.
The second part includes the colour palette and the meanings and ideas behind the use of the specific colour. In this film, orange tones hold the meaning of imagination, new build friendships and hope.
